Though I know she’s well known, and much accomplished writer, this was my first Emily Henry Novel. This was another audio as well—read by Julia Whelan.
When Poppy and Alex meet for the first time 12 years ago, it’s obvious they are each others total opposite and will never meet again. 11 years ago, by chance they meet again. That’s how an unlikely friendship starts.
Every year they end up taking a holiday together, as friends. But two years ago in Croatia something goes terribly wrong and they loose contact. This summer is Poppy’s last chance to rekindle their friendship, except of course it’s not only friendship on the line.
This is a sweet story for the true romantic. What I loved about this book—the dialogue, the back and forth timeline, Emily Henry’s description of the places they visit and the details of what Poppy and Alex experience together. I also found both characters believable and likeable. Towards the end, it got a little over the top lovey-dovey for me, but that’s a minor snag on an overall enjoyable journey of two sizzling best friends. .
